My story plays on the fictitious Nordic island nation named Heillaður (meaning enchanted in Norse). I took lots of inspiration from Iceland—the scarce landscape dominated by volcanic rock, the countless waterfalls, and the open and sparsely populated land. Vikings invaded the island thirty years before the beginning of my story. They rule with disdain over the Celtic natives. Witchcraft has been outlawed, and suspected practitioners are hunted and executed. Although I reference Vikings, who disappeared around 1050 AD, the technology and society of my story are more akin to the 14th century.

As a passionate fiction reader, I started crafting this novel in January 2023, finishing the first draft in five months. Two rounds of beta-reader provided me with very positive feedback. After extensive alterations and additions, I am now in the process of finalizing the manuscript and working toward the launch on June 21st.
I have always enjoyed challenging the preconceived notions of evil and good. Among my favorite fictional characters are the disdainful Professor Severus Snape of the Harry Potter Universe, the cynical crippled torturer Sand dan Glokta of the First Law Series, and the immoral assassin Royce Melbourne of the Riyria Revelations, who all three end up saving the world.
Inspired by these fascinating stories that focus on the human character despite dealing with dragons, magic, and ancient prophecies, my story follows a truly flawed heroine. Targeted for an audience between 16 and 96, I have crafted a fantasy story with humor and suspense. There are some scenes of violence and non-explicit sex, but far from being grimdark like Game of Thrones or romantasy like Twilight. My hope is that the book will appeal to fans of T. Kingfisher, Joe Abercrombie, N. K. Jemisin, and Michal J. Sullivan.

An exciting, dramatic fantasy story that I enjoyed very much. It was well-written, and the characters were likable and enjoyable to get to know. I love the landscape descriptions. The witches' castle on top of the mountainside was a particular highlight. I think having quite a barren, craggy landscape fits perfectly with the story, as there are some dark themes that are explored. this is an enjoyable fantasy story with strong, memorable characters. I loved the descriptive narrative the author used. I became part of the story. I could feel, see, and smell the surroundings the characters were part of.
